Every week I answer questions from readers who are working through the programs in my books. If you would like to submit a question, please use the link at the bottom of this post.
Question: When I’m answering questions about myself in Stage-2: Discover Yourself of A Whole New You: Six Steps to Ignite Change for Your Best Life, how do I know I’m getting the answers right? And what happens if I miss something important about myself and end up going in the wrong “new” direction?

The greatest part of the self-discovery process is that there are no “right” or “wrong” answers. You are a unique individual with unique experiences, thoughts, and emotions. As long as you are being honest with yourself in answering the questions posed throughout the book, and giving yourself the time and freedom to tap into what makes you who you are in an authentic and open way, you are answering the questions in the best way possible.
The only “wrong” way to answer the questions would be to answer them dishonestly or to answer them based on what you think you “should” answer or what others might “want” you to answer. Keep reminding yourself that your answers need to be YOURS. Don’t answer questions based on what others think or have told you. Don’t answer questions based on what you “should” do or out of guilt. Answer them for you, yourself and no one else, and you’ll be doing what you need to build your self-awareness and so you can create a life that is authentic to you.
As far as whether or not you “miss” something…you might. And if you do, you might have to go back and revisit some of the original answers. You may uncover things as you progress through the process that might reveal something new about yourself. That is okay. This isn’t a linear process. Think of it as a constant work in progress.
Remember that there is no “wrong” direction in personal transformation. Sometimes, we have to go in a direction that is less than optimal to actually find the path that is ideal. We don’t always have all of the answers right off the bat!
